A study in vision, color, and patience.
Shinobu Ishihara: Handmade Quilt Inspired by the Ishihara Color Blindness Test is a bold, one-of-a-kind art quilt by Brice Porter, founder of Men’s Textile Collective (MTC). This 54" x 54" piece took over 70 hours to complete, with each circle painstakingly appliquéd to the quilt top by hand to create a hidden pattern—just like in the original colorblindness tests designed by Dr. Shinobu Ishihara.

Crafted from 100% cotton and featuring a full cloth back and traditional binding, the quilt transforms an optometric tool into textile storytelling. The final piece is a vibrant expression of vision, perception, and detail—made simply “because it was fun to make,” says Brice.

This quilt is delicate and should be dry cleaned only. Proceeds support MTC’s textile therapy programs for veterans and first responders.
